Are you a new student? Are you a 3rd or 4th grader considering enrolling in our school?
About Me Teaching is my passion. I love the 3rd and 4th grade because they are at a crucial developmental stage. They love learning, enjoy being at school, are beginning to think abstractly, they are becoming quite independent, yet they still need teacher guidance. I love watching my students learn and grow into responsible and respectful people. I believe in teaching the whole student rather than just focusing on academics.
There are many important life skills we work on in the classroom such as teamwork, responsibility, friendship, conflict, collaboration, and self reflection. Our classroom size is big enough to work in small groups, yet small enough to adapt to various student needs.
We work hard and have fun at the same time.
SCS is a wonderful place to work and learn! Silverton Christian School (SCS) hires only licensed, professional teachers for grades K-8, and there are never more than 20 students per classroom. All the teachers are part of the local Silverton Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) so that we stay current on educational issues, laws, and trends.
* Like public schools all across the United States, we align our curriculum with the Core Curriculum standards to ensure our students meet high academic standards.
*Unlike public schools, we do not receive federal funds, which means we have fewer restrictions and no state testing. This allows for more creativity and a Christian perspective across the curriculum. All of us teachers at SCS mix traditional teaching with as much hands-on and experiential learning as possible. If you want to just come and see the classroom, take a tour, or observe a class period, please call the office at 503-873-5131 and set up a time. Or, feel free to contact me below. I look forward to meeting you soon! :)
